Breaking: Karnataka Governor Sanctions Prosecution of CM Siddaramaiah in MUDA Land Scam: Reports

Sources indicate that Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has sanctioned the prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam, following a fresh complaint against him. The Governor has reportedly summoned social activist TJ Abraham, who initially sought the prosecution, to meet him at the office around 3 p.m.

On July 26, in response to Abraham’s plea, the Governor issued a showcause notice to Siddaramaiah, asking him to reply to the allegations within seven days, explaining why permission for prosecution should not be granted. The Karnataka government, on August 1, strongly advised the Governor to withdraw the notice, accusing him of “gross misuse of the Constitutional Office.” Since then, the Governor has been considering the petition for sanctioning the Chief Minister’s prosecution.

The scandal centers on the alleged illegal land allotment to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi. The BJP and JD(S) have been staging protests, demanding the Chief Minister’s resignation.
